Prosecution Rests In Wayne Murder Trial

{Wayne, West Virginia}...The defense will start presenting its case Wednesday morning in the trial of Clinton Skeens. Skeens is charged with killing his former football coach, 73 year old Jess Scott Jarrell, who was stabbed 43 times at his home on Wilson Creek Road near Wayne on December 31, 2010. West Virginia Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Allen Mock testified Tuesday that the injuries to Jarrell's arms likely came when he was trying to defend himself against the attack which also included wounds to other parts of his body. Dr. Mock said Jarrell's lungs and liver were punctured multiple times, and a deep wound hit his heart directly. Earlier in the day, State Police Trooper D.J. Chapman testified he had pulled over at the Lavalette Public Service District Office to make a call when Skeens pulled in next to him, in what would turn out to be Jarrell's truck, and that Skeens confessed to him before Jarrell's death had been reported.
