Family Fighting To Keep Murderer In Prison

  • {West Virginia}...A Putnam County family is fighting to keep a convicted murderer in prison. Robert Gray was convicted of murdering Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy John Janey in 1989 and sentenced to life with mercy. Every three years he goes before the parole board. According to court records, Deputy Janey was trying to stop an arson, and, when he chased Gray into the woods, a struggle broke out and Deputy Janey was shot three times, twice in the chest and once in the head execution-style. Sara Janey-Bragg, John’s niece, has  started an online petition drive to keep Gray in jail, hoping it will be enough to keep him behind bars for another three years.
