Protesters Released

{Hamlin, West Virginia}...Ten Radical Action for Mountain People's Survival, or RAMPS, activists who were arrested on July 28th during a protest at Patriot Coal's Hobet Mine in Lincoln County were released from jail Tuesday after pleading guilty in Lincoln County Magistrate Court. The protesters were each fined $500 for trespassing, about $160 in court costs and were ordered to stay off West Virginia mine property for a year. West Virginia State Police arrested 20 RAMPS members. They were sent to the Western Regional Jail and ordered held on $25,000 property bonds. Dustin Steele, 21, was released early last week after supporters raised enough money to pay his bail. Nine protesters were released Friday.
