Bone Marrow Donor Drive Set

{West Virginia}...A bone marrow donor drive and fundraiser for 6-year-old Mailyn Chandler of Louisa, Kentucky will be held Friday at the Charleston Civic Center. Chandler was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008 and had a relapse in her central nervous system in September 2010. Last week, the girl developed a blood infection and underwent emergency surgery at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Money raised at the event Friday will help the Be The Match Foundation test potential bone marrow donors. So far, 1,500 people have undergone a mouth cotton-swab test to be put on the donor registry list. The event will run from 1 to 6 P.M. Friday at the Civic Center's Parlor A. Anyone who wishes to be tested can do so at no cost. Donations also will be accepted.
