Alpha Says Overseas Coal Demand Drops

{West Virginia}...Alpha Natural Resources Inc. said Wednesday that it will ship less coal than estimated earlier in the year as demand drops in Asia and production falls short at some of its mines. Alpha expects to ship between 102.5 million and 109.5 million tons this year, down from a previous estimate of between 104 million and 112 million tons. Alpha says production from some central Appalachian mines acquired in the acquisition of Massey Energy is lower than expected.
