Man Charged In Sniper Investigation
- {West Virginia}...Paul Woolwine of St. Albans was charged on August 29th with witness intimidation after police say he went to the Charleston home of Craig Hughes, a witness in the 2003 Kanawha County sniper-style murder investigation, and threatened him. Those charges were thrown out Thursday, and a new criminal complaint was filed charging Woolwine with witness retaliation. Woolwine, who is acquainted with Tito Lopez, the alleged drug dealer tied to the murder investigations, remains jailed on a $250,000 bond. In August, a grand jury indicted 36 year old Shawn Lester on three counts of murder in the shooting deaths of Jeannie Patton, Gary Carrier Jr. and Okey Meadows Jr. Hughes has provided information to police about Lester and Lopez that was used in part to charge Lester with first-degree murder. According to the complaint, Lester told Hughes in March 2003 that he was friends with Lopez. Lester has continuously denied any connection to Lopez.
