Coal House Reopened

  • {West Virginia}...Monday, a grand opening ceremony took place at the Coal House in Williamson after it was damaged by fire last October. Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce Director Natalie Young says the landmark is better than it was before the fire. Young says it now has a raised ceiling, an open floor plan and has been divided into three rooms so it seems much bigger, and new paint has replaced the paneling it had before. The Mingo County Commission put up $315,000 to repair the damages. The Coal House, built in 1933, is made totally of coal and serves as the home of the chamber of commerce and the area's visitor’s center.
