Putnam County Commissioner Charged With Domestic Battery

• {West Virginia}...Putnam County Commissioner Gary Tillis was arrested around 9:30 P.M. Monday night and charged with domestic battery following an alleged fight with his wife. According to the criminal complaint, Mrs. Tillis says the two got into an argument after Tillis came home in Eleanor and had been drinking, and he punched her in the face. Police say, when they told Tillis' wife that he would be charged with domestic battery, she started to change her story, telling them she did not get hit and that, instead, she hit Tillis and split his lip. She also told police that when Tillis was leaving, she broke his car's windshield with a rock. Police met Tillis at the Speedway gas station in Winfield, and he told them he swung at his wife after she threw a rock at his vehicle, but Tillis did not have a split lip.
