Nevada Man Sentenced In Putnam County Bust

  • {West Virginia}...U.S. District Judge Robert Chambers has sentenced Jay Van Meenen, 33, of Las Vegas, to 37 months in prison and four years of supervised release after he pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the distribution of 100 kilograms or more of marijuana in May. Van Meenen was stopped on March 5, 2010 in Putnam County. A search of his Haulmark box trailer turned up 310.3 kilograms of marijuana, or 684 pounds. Police say Van Meenen said he agreed to transport the marijuana for a drug trafficking organization operating out of Arizona and Mexico to West Virginia to deliver to a confidential source in Putnam County.
