Mercer County Men Convicted

{Bluefield, West Virginia}...U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says the Bluefield Pill Initiative has now resulted in the convictions of 23 people. Goodwin announced Thursday the convictions of 35 year old Benjamin Jamalle Lane and 38 year old Andrae Cortez Simmons, two Mercer County men who admitted to selling a total of more than 2,200 pills. Lane and Simmons each pleaded guilty to distributing Oxycodone. They each face up to 20 years in prison when sentenced November 29th in federal court in Beckley. The Bluefield Pill Initiative, which began  in June 2011, targets prescription drug trafficking in Mercer, McDowell and Wyoming counties.
