Tomblin Signs Redistricting Bill

{West Virginia}...Acting Governor Earl Ray Tomblin signed the House of Delegates redistricting bill into law Friday afternoon. The signed bill increases the number of single-seat districts from 36 to 47. Friday's signing will likely open the door for legal challenges by some who call the House plan unconstitutional. Advocates of 100 single-seat districts oppose the plan. Democrat Thornton Cooper has already advised state officials that he will sue. GOP officials and lawmakers are also weighing a legal challenge. The acting governor's legal staff reviewed the bill for a week before Tomblin signed it.
