Man Pleads Guilty To Sexual Assault
{Charleston, West Virginia}...Assistant Prosecutor Michelle Drummond told Kanawha Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey Monday that Charles L. Illingworth, 37, a resident at the men's shelter on Leon Sullivan Way in Charleston, was part of a group of people drinking beer on the bank of the Elk River the day he sexually assaulted and beat a female victim near Pennsylvania Avenue July 5th. Illingworth pleaded guilty Monday to second degree sexual assault and faces a possible penalty of 10 to 25 years in prison when sentenced June 13th. Illingworth spent nearly five years in prison after being convicted of sexual crimes in Iowa and Nebraska. He has been held without bond at South Central Regional Jail since his arrest.
