Glasgow Police Officer Shot

{Glasgow, West Virginia}...Police say Nicky Don Smith II shot Glasgow Police Officer Steve Smith Tuesday night while Smith and Officer A.J. Roop were responding to a reported burglary at a home on Glass Fire Lane. As Officer Smith, who was off-duty, not in uniform and was not wearing a bulletproof vest, attempted to open the door, Nicky Smith opened the door and shot him in the upper arm. Nicky Smith told officers he shot Officer Smith because he was afraid it was someone trying to break into his home. Nicky Smith has been charged with malicious assault of a police officer.
