Huntington Business/Occupation Taxes To Change

  • {Huntington, West Virginia}...Starting Sunday, January 1, 2012, businesses in Huntington will see a reduction in their business and occupation taxes, and, for some, it will be eliminated. In August 2010, the Huntington City Council passed a reform package which is projected to reduce taxes on businesses by nearly $4 million annually. Manufacturing B&O taxes will be eliminated while retail taxes will be cut in half to 0.25 percent of sales and service will be cut in half to 0.50 percent of sales. Mayor Kim Wolfe says the 1 percent municipal sales tax which goes into effect Sunday is not tied to the 1 percent occupation tax which remains in litigation.
