Alum Creek Man Charged With Arson
- {Charleston, West Virginia}...Police have charged 37 year old Charles "Darren" Roberts of Alum Creek with third-degree arson in connection to a fire Saturday night that resulted in the death of Davis Creek-Ruthdale volunteer firefighter 61 year old Joey King. Roberts told investigators he used a cardboard box to ignite a tire which in turn caused railroad ties to catch fire. Police say King was looking over the Steven Wayne Memorial Bridge when he fell off and down an embankment. Roberts' bond was set at $250,000 dollars. The case will be sent to the Kanawha Prosecuting Attorney's Office to determine if additional charges will be filed.
