Roane County Man Charged With Murder

  • {Newton, West Virginia}...West Virginia State Police say Adam Scott Lytle of Frametown, in Roane County, and Jeremy Smith were at a party together at a house on Tawney Hollow Road in Newton and were sitting on a couch together when Lytle picked up a 12 gauge shotgun and shot Smith twice from point blank range. Police found Smith lying in the doorway with a gunshot wound to the chest and a gunshot wound to his right side. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. In initial interviews, Lytle denied being involved in the shooting, instead telling police that someone else in the house fired the shots. Interviews with other witnesses match the evidence found at the scene, implicating Lytle as the teen responsible. Lytle has been charged with first degree murder.
