Inmate Accused Of Attempting To Sell Drugs

{Charleston, West Virginia}...State Police say Joseph Duane Thomas, 24, of Elkview, attempted to bring prescription pills and synthetic marijuana into South Central Regional Jail to sell to his cellmate, Greg Allen Burdette, 34, of Charleston, who is serving two to ten years for a malicious wounding charge after pleading guilty last month to beating a homeless, wheelchair-bound man during a feud that started over an accusation of stolen cigarettes. Thomas is accused of placing a baggie on the window seal of the jail's booking room when he reported for the weekend. Corrections officers say they opened the baggie and found several pills, synthetic marijuana, rolling papers, matches and cigarettes.
