Aged And Disabled Waiver Program To Halt Applications

{Charleston, West Virginia}...The West Virginia state Bureau of Medical Services has sent out a notice to care providers that it will not be accepting applications for the Aged and Disabled Waiver program after December 5th. The program allows elderly and disabled residents to receive in-home care as an alternative to nursing homes. John Law, spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Resources, says it is necessary to cap enrollment in the program at 8,130 participants statewide because of increasing program costs and an ongoing decrease in federal Medicaid matching funds.
