Fingerprinting Changes For The WV Lottery

{Charleston, West Virginia}...West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave says electronic fingerprinting done by the Lottery has significantly decreased in recent months, and they are thinking about dropping the service altogether. Musgrave says the Lottery has worked for years with the State Police on fingerprinting because Lottery employees, vendors and employees at the various casinos all have to be fingerprinted. Musgrave says there's been a change in policy, and the State Police has contracted with a private outside vendor to provide the service. Musgrave says one thing he is concerned about is turnaround time for the prints when using an outside vendor. He says when a fingerprint card system was used before the September 11th tragedy, it would take several weeks to receive the fingerprint information. The Lottery has been doing about 6,000 to 8,000 fingerprints a year. In February it only did a little more than 100.
