Hurricane Father Sentenced
{Hurricane, West Virginia}...Rudy Falbo of Hurricane was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to obstructing an officer in connection to a confrontation with EMTs, firefighters and police in January of 2011. Falbo's daughter was involved in a T-bone accident with another vehicle on U.S. 60 and Sycamore Road. When Falbo arrived on scene, emergency workers allowed him to get into the passenger seat to comfort his daughter, but, when first responders asked multiple times for Falbo to get out of the vehicle, police say he took the law into his own hands and began fighting off first responders, even throwing punches. During Thursday's hearing, Falbo told Putnam County Circuit Judge Phillip Stowers his life has been turned upside down since the incident and that he still believes emergency officials overreacted to his attempts to stay with his daughter. Stowers disagreed and told Falbo he hadn't truly shown much remorse other than to complain about his own problems since the arrest. Judge Stowers sentenced Falbo to a one year suspended jail term. Instead, he'll be on unsupervised probation for one year. He must complete 20 hours of community service. Five of those hours will be talking to public groups about the importance of respecting first responders. He must also write each EMT, firefighter and the police officer involved a personal letter apologizing for his actions.
