Raleigh County Opens $17.5 Million Judicial Center

{Beckley, West Virginia}...A ribbon-cutting Tuesday marked the opening of the $17.5 million, three-story 69,500-square-foot Raleigh County Judicial Center on Prince Street in Beckley. The top floor has three spacious courtrooms for circuit court. The middle floor is home to Family Court, and the bottom floor to Raleigh County Magistrate Court. The building also houses the circuit clerk's office. The commitment to construct a judicial center began six years ago. The county commission was able to pay all but $5 million of the $17.5 million project up front. The original Raleigh County Courthouse was built in 1893, and the current courthouse was built around it in 1937.
