{Charleston , West
Virginia }…Thursday, the West Virginia Board of
Education re-voted 6-2 to remove Dr. Jorea Marple from her post as state
school superintendent, citing poor student achievement, lack of urgency to fix
problems, and excuses not actions. Board members Gayle Manchin, William White,
Lloyd Jackson, Bob Dunlevy, Wade Linger, and Michael Green voted in favor of
the change, while Priscilla Haden and Jenny Phillips were
against it. After Dr. Marple's firing on November 15th, Haden and Phillips
announced their resignation effective December 31st. Chuck Heinlein has
been appointed interim superintendent.
