Pharmacist Sentenced

{Charleston, West Virginia}...Seventy-seven year old James P. Wooley of Louisa, Kentucky was sentenced this week in federal court in Charleston to six months in prison for illegally dispensing controlled substances in Mingo County. He was also fined $5,000 and has paid a $500,000 fine in a related civil case for Medicare and Medicaid fraud. Prosecutors say Wooley owned and operated drug stores at two locations near Kermit. An investigation revealed that Wooley and other pharmacists under his direction dispensed controlled substances that did not have a doctor's approval. Wooley pleaded guilty in February to conspiracy to fraudulently obtain drugs.
