Man Sentenced On Drug And Firearms Charge


Fifty year old David Michael Persons of West Columbia, in Mason County, has been sentenced to ten years in prison after being found guilty in August on three counts of illegal drug distribution, one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Authorities say Persons sold heroin and cocaine to a confidential information in 2010. On April 20, 2010, investigators executed a search warrant at Persons' house and seized several items that included a quantity of heroin, digital scales, a .22 caliber rifle and a .410 gauge shotgun. Persons is prohibited from possessing firearms because of a 2007 felony conviction.
