{Charleston , West Virginia }...Fifty-two
year old Russell Elswick of Clendenin is charged with making terroristic
threats and possessing a firearm on school property after allegedly waving an
unloaded shotgun outside of Herbert
High School around 5:30
A.M. Wednesday morning. A custodian says Elswick had the gun on
school property saying he "had business to take care of." When Kanawha
County Deputies arrived, they found Elswick inside his car. Deputies say
Elswick refused to get out of his car, and, when they got him out the car,
he lurched forward and struck Deputy R. D. Evans. A second deputy, Corporal A.
J. Miller, was injured during the arrest. Deputies say Elswick appeared to be
mentally disturbed or under the influence.
