Former Lincoln County Commissioner Sentenced

{Hamlin, West Virginia}...Former Lincoln County Commissioner 32 year old Thomas Ramey, Jr. was sentenced in federal court Thursday afternoon by U.S. District Judge Thomas E. Johnston to 21 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release for making a false statement to an FBI agent in connection with a 2010 Lincoln County voter fraud investigation. Ramey plead guilty in August, admitting he falsely told an FBI agent he did not know who altered certain absentee ballot applications from the 2010 primary election in the Lincoln County Clerk's Office. Ramey is the third elected official in Lincoln County to plead guilty to a voter fraud charge and resign from office because of the absentee ballot scheme. Former Lincoln County Sheriff Jerry Bowman and former County Clerk Donald Whitten have already been sentenced to prison for their involvement.
