AFT Head Retiring

{Charleston, West Virginia}...After 22 years at the helm of the West Virginia American Federation of Teachers, Judy Hale is stepping down in March 2013. Hale was a language arts teacher in Putnam County when the National AFT approached her in 1990 about the position in West Virginia. Hale ran and was elected. Although Hale started with a staff of two, she says the organization is now the largest union in the state. The state membership has elected Christine Campbell to take over for Hale.
