Commissioners To Count Votes

{Charleston, West Virginia}...The 2012 vote is in, but the counting continues for county commissioners. In Kanawha County, commissioners will meet as the Board of Canvassers on Tuesday, November 13th to comb through 1,100 provisional ballots  plus any absentee ballots that arrive at the Kanawha County Clerk's office by the start of the canvass, which will be added to the current vote totals. When they're finished, the vote will then be certified. Commission President Kent Carper says this year's canvass will be even more important, as one of the four seats in the 35th District House of Delegates is separated by only 64 votes. Delegates Doug Skaff and Eric Nelson won reelection, and newcomer Suzette Raines won a seat. But newcomer J.B. McCuskey is in a three-way tie with incumbents Bonnie Brown and Barbara Hatfield, respectively. State Code states that the election can't be certified until 48 hours after the county declares their canvassing results.
