Man Arraigned In Extortion Scheme


{Beckley, West Virginia}…Twenty-five year old Vivek Shah, an aspiring actor from West Hollywood, California appeared Tuesday before Magistrate Clarke VanDervort in U.S. District Court in Beckley to be arraigned on charges of trying to extort $13 million from West Virginia coal executive Foresight Reserves owner Christopher Cline. Shah was indicted in August after being accused of threatening to kill relatives of Cline, if he didn’t pay up. Shah is also accused of attempting to extort money from four other victims, including  a film studio co-founder from Connecticut, two oil and gas millionaires in Texas and Florida and an internet company founder from Chicago. Shah’s trial is set for January 7, 2013.
