Virginia }…Kanawha County Circuit Judge Duke Bloom has denied a request to
lower the bond for 31 year old Franklin Beverly from West
Dunbar . Judge Bloom, however, did grant a request for Beverly, who
has a history of mental illness, to undergo a mental competency test. Beverly is charged with malicious wounding for
allegedly shooting Joe Green multiple times in an apartment on Smoot Avenue in West Dunbar on October 11th. Investigators say Beverly
shot Green because he had slapped the belly of Beverly 's girlfriend, who was pregnant with
his child. If convicted, Beverly
could face up to five years in jail and up to a $500 fine.
