Longtime State Senate Clerk Retiring

  • {West Virginia}...Rick Winnell, a longtime assistant clerk in the state Senate, is retiring. Winnell, who was first hired in the state's upper chamber in 1974, has worked for seven Senate presidents, seven governors and four Senate clerks. Lee Cassis, an administrative assistant to the clerk, will officially take over for Winnell on September 1, 2011. Cassis first began working for the Legislature in 2002 in the Performance Evaluation and Research Division of the Legislative Auditor’s Office. He was hired as Administrative Assistant to the Senate Clerk in October 2006.
