{West Virginia}...The South Charleston Fire Department dive team was called to Dunbar at about 8:30 A.M. Friday after 40 year old Leighsha Bowman of South Charleston drove her vehicle into the Kanawha River. Bowman told police she was driving down 17th Street toward the Kanawha River while looking for a house that was for sale when she apparently failed to notice 17th Street dead-ends at the river in time to stop. Bowman drove off the end of the street, over the riverbank and smashed through a wooden boat dock before the car plunged into the Kanawha River. Whittington said she was able to safely get out of the car and swim to shore.
