{West Virginia}...Dr. Rick Houdersheldt, a Hurricane osteopath, has been sued by Carl and Carolyn Ward of Hurricane who claim Carl Ward was a patient of Dr. Houdersheldt when he had a colonoscopy on December 6, 2007. The biopsy was sent to a pathologist who recommended further steps be taken to investigate. The Wards say Houdersheldt failed to act on the pathologist's recommendation, and the delay resulted in health problems that led to cancer. Carl Ward was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer about three years after Houdersheldt's recommendation for cancer screening. Ward and his wife are seeking damages and have requested a jury trial.
