{West Virginia}...Anthony Lambert, 24, of Montrose, in Randolph County, pleaded guilty Tuesday to making false statements to federal investigators, admitting he lied to the U.S. Marshal Service about fugitive Charles Smith. Smith was wanted on federal gun and drug charges when law enforcement executed a search warrant on a residence in Elkins on February 16th. After an exchange of gunfire, Smith and U.S. Marshal 24 year old Derek Hotsinpiller were dead. Lambert, the boyfriend of Smith's daughter, was living in the home at the time of the raid. At Tuesday's hearing, law enforcement officers testified that they went to the home in March 2010 looking for Smith. When officers questioned Lambert, he told them Smith did not live in the house. Lambert's lawyer said Smith intimidated Lambert and made several threats to Lambert between March 2010 and February 2011. Lambert faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced. Smith's wife, Sherry Lou Smith, 49, is also accused of hiding her husband and lying to authorities.
