Deadly Mining Accident In Logan County

  • {West Virginia}...The West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training has confirmed 46 year old Charles Hall from Williamson died after being injured just before 7:00 A.M. Monday morning in an underground mine at Mingo Logan Coal Company's Mountaineer II Mine near Sharples in Logan County. The federal Mine Safety and Health Administration says Hall was installing roof supports when he was hit by falling rock. The mine is owned by Mingo Logan Coal Co., a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Arch Coal Inc. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
