Solar Panels At Wastewater Treatment Plant

(Hurricane)  Hurricane's wastewater treatment plant is going solar. The city hired Mountain View Solar of Morgan County to install 84 solar panels at the plant. City manager Ben Newhouse says the city expects to save about $1,000 a month in energy costs.
Mountain View Solar director of operations Colin Williams says the 19.74-kilowatt system will generate enough electricity to power two to three average-size homes. The U.S. Department of Energy provided a $193,000 federal grant for the project. Mountain View Solar submitted the lowest bid of about $135,000 for the work.
