WVU Preparing To Sell Beer

  • {West Virginia}...West Virginia University athletic director Oliver Luck announced Thursday afternoon that Anheuser-Busch, Miller-Coors and the Morgantown Brewing Company will be selling beer this fall at Milan Puskar Stadium. Luck and the folks at Sodexo, which is the company in charge of concessions at WVU athletic events, have been working over the past several months to develop a plan for beer sales. Sodexo district manager Paul Laky says everyone who wants to buy a beer will be asked to show their ID, regardless of their age. There will be 51 locations around the stadium at which people can buy beer, but no beer sales locations near the student section. There will be four locations for designated drivers to sign up around the stadium. In exchange they’ll be given a coupon for a free soda. Sales will also end with 7:30 on the clock in the 3rd quarter. More portable bathrooms are being added inside the stadium and a recycling program is being implemented to deal with the plastic bottles and plastic cups. Several smoking corrals are being created outside the concourse, but still within the stadium, because smoking will no longer be allowed in the concourse.
