Convicted Animal Abuser Appears In Court

{West Virginia}...Convicted animal abuser Gary Belcher of Prichard was in Wayne County Court Tuesday accused of once again owning animals. Just over a year ago he was convicted of animal cruelty for neglecting 49 horses, mules, and donkeys, and more than 40 dogs on his Wayne County farm. In June 2010, Belcher pleaded guilty to three counts of animal abuse, which resulted in a ban of owning animals for five years. Belcher was fined $1500 on two different charges, including one for animal cruelty. Originally the judge said Belcher would serve six months in jail, but that was suspended. Instead, he will serve three months home confinement and three months community correction.
