Mining Protester Charged With Trespassing

{West Virginia}...Twenty-one year old Becks Kolins of Ardmore, Pennsylvania has been charged with trespassing after she and Catherine-Ann MacDougal, affiliated with Radical Action for Mountain People's Survival, climbed onto platforms on July 20th to protest operations at  Alpha Natural Resources' Bee Tree surface mine on Coal River Mountain. Kolins descended Tuesday, but McDougal says she's staying put. Kolins says managers with Alpha treated them kindly and checked daily to ensure they weren't harassed. Kolins says she'll take the fight to court, and trespassing is necessary to save a place that is otherwise doomed.
